Yearbook Picture Day for 9th, 10th, & 11th Graders
Yearbook Picture Day is Thursday, October 21 in the MPR
SAT/ACT WORKSHOP
The SAT/ ACT preparation course through Attest Test Prep is being offered this school year. It takes place on November 16th 2021 in person. The session is from 8:45 a.m.- 1:26 p.m. The concepts covered are Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Pre Calculus Grammatical Writing, Evidence Based Reading & Writing. Students will have breaks throughout and a half hour lunch break. Students can bring a lunch or bagged lunch will provided. Students attending the session will receive an excused absence for their participation. There are 75 slots available social distancing guidelines will be followed. FIRST COME FIRST SERVE !

The Collaboration
Mr. Price and Mr. Rasberry designed a collaboration with Fundametals of computing, AP Computer Science and Engineering students. Using the title Robotics Rodeo, the students went through a round robin of coding, robotic design, and teamwork. The collaboration emphasized through paired programming.
The students were exposed to program objectives, input/outputs, electrical mechanical control, trouble shooting and testing. The collaboration seeks to develop a capstone robotic project, a competition requiring the students to use all of different elements.
Mr. Rasberry stated, “As CATE teachers we wanted to find more ways to connect the content to reality. Giving them the opportunity to touch and test the future right now.” Mr. Price stated “Through this exercise, our students learned the necessity of failure in the creative process, something that will benefit them in and out of school.”

This October we are voting for your favorite English Teacher and Support Staff (Guidance). Voting will end on October 22nd at 4:00 pm. The winner for each month will be selected and announced at the designated time. Please note that your nomination letter will be shared with the teacher and classified employee selected.

Key Club Anti-Bullying Month Activities!
Throughout October, Key Club will be hosting several activities to encourage students of Spring Valley to stand up against bullying and promote kindness! This Thursday, we will walk around the gym during lunch to encourage students to stand up against bullying! Key Club members will also be wearing orange ribbons to raise awareness! Join Key Club by encouraging your peers to help us stand against bullying by being kind!
The 2021 Yearbooks are Here!!!
The yearbooks are finally here! Extra copies are on sale through Parent Portal. Simply pay online and bring an electronic or paper copy of your receipt by D221 to pick up your book. Students who have preordered a copy have been sent an email and don’t need a receipt. Books are available before and after school each day. Help us spread the word to last year’s seniors…we need your help letting members of the Class of 2021 know that their senior book is finally back from the publishers.
