Safety Screenings

Spring Valley Families,     Please remember to leave early for school when possible and to be patient as we begin the year.  Additional time in the morning will help with our safety screening process and limit the chance of missing instructional time.  Thank you!

Schedule Changes

Schedule changes will begin on August 8th at 4:00 pm. Students will have 5 days to request a schedule change for semester skinny and semester block courses and 10 days to request a schedule change for yearlong classes.

Students will also have the opportunity to change their course level within the first 6 weeks of school. Please be reminded that all schedule change requests are not guaranteed and are solely based on class availability.

Students will have to make schedule changes by accessing the QR code or visiting the counseling website. Once you are on the counseling website  locate your counselor and click on the change request form under their name.

For the 2023-2024 school year, we be issuing textbooks as we have done in the past through each of your students’ classes. Student textbooks will be distributed during the week of August 11-15th. Students will be escorted to the bookroom by each of their teachers at a scheduled time.

Helpful Information

You can pay your student general fees, athletic participation fees, parking fees, and locker fees online via Parent Portal. Go to richlalnd2.org

If a student has not received their ID prior to the first day of school they will receive their ID in their homeroom class this week. Freshmen and New Students will have a chance during this week to also take their ID picture before school and during lunch.

For the most effective way to make a request regarding your schedule please use the link or QR code below. One request per student! Your assigned counselor will make schedule changes based upon your request and course availability.  Please know, we are unable to accommodate teacher change requests. Thank you for your understanding.

New Students and Freshmen who don’t have a Chromebook will receive theirs during the first week of school. Returning students and students coming from a Richland Two school already have their Chromebooks.

Reminder to Purchase Chromebook Insurance before Sept. 30, 2023. Chromebook insurance must be purchased each school year. It covers one incident of accidental damage or theft (with a theft report) per school year. It is strongly recommended that the insurance fee be paid. If after Sept. 30th the $20 insurance fee has not been paid, the student is not covered and will be charged full price for any damages that occur.
The technology insurance fee is $20 and can be paid online through Parent Portal (https://psapp.richland2.org  — District Code: ZNWW) or in Spring Valley’s fee office.
Late enrollees have 30 days to pay from the date of enrollment.

SVHS Update : eLearning for All- Friday, September 30, 2022

Good Afternoon Spring Valley Families,

We hope that everyone has had a successful start to the first semester!  As you have heard by now, Richland Two is switching to an eLearning/remote work day for Friday, September 30, 2022.  To view the full announcement from Richland Two, please visit the Richland 2 weather update on the district’s website. Below is additional information on eLearning procedures and expectations for SVHS students.

If you have additional questions that were not answered in this email, please reach out to the Spring Valley staff for assistance.

eLearning Procedures and Expectations

On Friday, September 30, 2022, students will participate in a day of eLearning per Richland Two’s announcement. Instruction will be asynchronous, which means that students will complete required assignments at home at their own pace. SVHS teachers will post assignments in Google Classroom Friday morning.  All assignments must be completed and turned in by Wednesday, October 5, 2022, in order for the student to be marked present for Friday, September 30, 2022.  It is important for ALL students to check Google Classroom for each of their classes and to complete the assigned activities from their teachers.

In addition to the posted assignments in Google Classroom, all Spring Valley teachers will hold virtual office hours on Friday.  Virtual office hours will be from 10:30 am-11:30 am and again from 2:30 pm-3:30 pm.  Teachers will post Google Meet links for the virtual office hours in their respective Google Classrooms.  These virtual office hours are for students to ask questions or seek help on assigned instructional activities.

We want to thank our teachers for the extra preparation they have had for this eLearning day and we appreciate the flexibility of our families with this change.  We hope that everyone stays safe this weekend.
We look forward to seeing everyone back on campus, Monday, October 3, 2022!

Have a great day and remember, we are…
