Nine Discovery Students Chosen as South Carolina Delegates for the 2021 AJAS Conference

Discovery students Spandana Anchoori (12), Sparsho De (12), Parth Desai (11), Ridha Fatima (12), Shyam Ganesh Babu (11), Taahera Islam (12), Sydni Moore (12), Yash Patel (12), and Evelyn Plakal (11) have been selected as South Carolina delegates to attend and present at the 2021 American Junior Academy of Science (AJAS) meeting held in conjunction with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS ) national February. The nominees this year were selected based on having achieved high distinction in their written research papers at the South Carolina Junior Academy of Science competition. Congratulations to these outstanding young scientists and their research teachers, Lindsay Rega, Michelle Spigner, and Dr. Michelle Wyatt!

Congratulations to Eileen Chen! She was selected, by audition, for the 2020 NAfME All-National Honor Symphony Orchestra! 

The NAfME All-National Honor Ensembles (ANHE) represent the top performing high school musicians in the United States. So much more than a musical showcase, the ANHE program is a comprehensive and educational experience.

The ensembles will be comprised of:

A virtual 2020 All-National Honor Ensembles (ANHE) program will take place on
Thursday, January 7 – Saturday, January 9, 2021.

This virtual event will include several rehearsals with the 2020 ANHE Conductors, workshops with renowned clinicians, and each ensemble will create a final, recorded performance which will be premiered online. 

Eileen will be one two orchestral string players representing South Carolina at this prestigious event!

SV FBLA UPDATE

The FBLA Chapter has been busy this month. According to Mrs. Jones the FBLA Chapter adviser, In spite of the challenges they are facing, they are determined to stay active as an organization. The FBLA Chapter invited everyone to wear purple on November 17,  to observe World Premature Awareness Day. 

On November 13, 2020, Provided faculty and staff a snack bag with information about American Enterprise Day. November 15 is recognized by FBLA-PBL each year as American Enterprise Day.

November 19, 2020, FBLA participating in Drayer Physical Therapy Institute Carolina/ Clemson Food Drive for Harvest Hope Food Bank by donating non-perishable items.

Yearbook Pictures for all 9th-11th graders

It is almost time for yearbook pictures for all 9th, 10th, and 11th graders. Yearbook pictures will be taken on the following days: A-Day Students – Tuesday, Dec. 1 in the Multi-Purpose Room (appoints will be received through English class) B-Day Students – Wednesday, Dec. 2 in the Multi-Purpose Room (appoints will be received through English class) Virtual Students – Friday, Dec. 4 in SV Lobby (enter through the front door). No appointment needed, just arrive anytime between 9 am – 4pm. See Flyer above for more details.

Complimentary Meals for Students

Richland 2 was able to provide 22,386 meals last friday. If you missed a chance to get a meal for your student come by one of our six distribution sites tomorrow November 24th from 8am to 12pm. *If your child is not with you during pick-up please read the flyer above for more information.
