Teacher of the Month: Ms. Tracy McNally
Congratulations to Ms. Tracy McNally for being named the “Teacher of the Month” for December! This accolade is a testament to her outstanding contributions and the positive influence she has on her students. Each month, members of the Spring Valley community, including students, teachers, parents, and staff, have the opportunity to vote for a teacher who has profoundly impacted their lives. Ms. McNally’s dedication and passion for teaching have clearly resonated with those around her, making her a deserving recipient of this honor.
Classified Employee of the Month: Mrs. Naikiya Felix
We are equally excited to announce Mrs. Naikiya Felix as the “Classified Employee of the Month” for December. This award recognizes classified employees who demonstrate exceptional dedication and service within the school. Through a thoughtful voting process involving teachers and staff, Mrs. Felix has been chosen for her unwavering commitment and hard work. Her exemplary efforts truly embody the spirit of going above and beyond in her duties, and we are thrilled to honor her contribution to our school community.

Key Club Just Socks January
Join us for Key Club’s Just Socks January Spirit Week! This exciting event encourages everyone to wear colorful and fun socks that can spark conversations about the needs in communities both near and far. Here’s how you can get involved:
1. **Wear Your Socks:** Show off your creativity by wearing your most vibrant and unique socks throughout the week. It’s a fun way to raise awareness and start conversations about helping those in need.
2. **Donate Socks:** We are accepting donations of *NEW* packs of socks. You can drop them off in the atrium or outside of room E303.
3. **Amazon Wish List:** Don’t have time to shop? No worries! Visit our Amazon wish list to purchase socks that will be sent directly to us.
4. **Monetary Donations:** If you prefer to give a monetary donation, you can do so, and these funds will be used to purchase additional socks and other essentials.
All donations collected during the Spirit Week will be sent to the ROAR hub in Marshall, NC, where they will be distributed to those in need. Join us in making a difference, one pair of socks at a time!

Many of you are still filling out applications, waiting for acceptances, and applying for scholarships. What you are not doing is thinking about what it will look like when you make that final decision and pick your college home for the next four years.
Christopher Parks, a former SVHS student and a current USC Darla Moore School of Business student, has created a platform, the Eleven Fifty-nine Project, to address your first-year college experience! Come join us on February 5th to hear more about this platform’s offerings!Â

Free to Focus
We wanted to remind all parents and students that the “Free to Focus” initiative has been fully implemented. This state-mandated policy aims to enhance the learning environment and ensure that all students can concentrate better on their studies. The policy includes specific guidelines and support measures designed to reduce distractions and foster a more productive educational experience. We encourage everyone to familiarize themselves with the details of this policy to ensure a smooth transition and successful implementation. Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to creating an optimal learning atmosphere for our students.
Student Parking
Students will no longer be allowed to utilize the parking lot in front of the gym upon arrival to school. This parking lot is reserved for Staff and Visitors only in the mornings. Students will begin receiving tickets and parking fines when parking in this area. All students are required to have the appropriate parking pass to utilize any campus parking and must park in the Upper/Junior Lot unless they have been assigned a designated Senior Parking Spot elsewhere on campus. Upon returning from lunch, or for after school activities, students may use the Gym Lot. Again, students may not use the Gym Lot any earlier than the beginning of 5th period.
