Calculus & Pre-Calculus Miniature Project Presentation
Mr. Gravidez Calculus & Pre-Calculus classes conducted the Miniature Project Presentation. The project presentation went very well with the help of my four very brilliant judges, Mr. Price, Ms. Saracila, Ms. McKelvey and Mr. Taguitay. The students presented and defended their project amazingly as they integrated all the calculus and pre-calculus principles.
Football Booster Club
Spring Valley’s Math Team
In late April, representatives of Spring Valley’s Math Team participated in the University of South Carolina 2023 Math Contest. The contest consisted of a written examination, a scavenger hunt, and an elimination round.
The team did exceptionally well, earning 1st Place in the Division 2 Written Exam. The team also placed 3rd in the scavenger hunt portion of the competition.
The top 16 scorers in the written examination out of all of the teams were selected to participate in the single elimination round. For Spring Valley, the following students qualified in the top 16:
Raymond Chen, Anagha Gowda, Patrick Li, and Fionn O’Connor
Patrick Li placed 2nd and Anagha Gowda placed 6th overall in the written competition and received $75 and $50, respectively.
Lastly, Patrick Li won 1st Place in the single-elimination tournament!

International Festival
“Come join us on May 20th from 11AM to 3PM at Spring Valley’s annual International Festival! Come and enjoy the cultural booths featuring games and activities, lots of delicious food, entertainment, and challenges. At the festival, you can get henna tattoos, participate in the fire noodle challenge, and watch the cooking demonstration! Entry is free and you can buy tickets for $1 each to buy food and participate in the various other activities at the festival!”

Football spring workouts for rising 9th graders will begin with practice on May 9-11 from 4:15-5:30. Please bring cleats and be prepared to be on the field. In order to participate you will need to have a physical uploaded into you Planet HS account. Workouts will continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:15-5:15 in the Weight Room.
