SV Students Participate in Columbia Museum of Art Visions from India

Spring Valley students Avery Marshall Kuriakose, and Yash Patel participated in The Columbia Museum of Art exhibit Visions from India. The Columbia Museum of Art has been exhibiting Visions from India (on display through Jan 10th). It presents a breadth of 21st-century painting, sculpture, and multimedia works from India and its diaspora. It features some of the most sought-after international artists.

Due to the pandemic, the museum decided to do a virtual galley of student responses and invited all students (K-12 and College) to submit an original work of art that was inspired by the exhibit. Click here to view Avery and Yash’s artwork. Way to go Avery, and Yash, we are so proud of you!

SHOW US WHAT YOU KNOW!

Students currently enrolled in a End-of-Course (EOC) class (Algebra 1- semester block classes only (including Intermediate Algebra), Biology 1, English 2- semester block classes only, and U.S. History and Constitution) will participate in the state mandated EOC exam at the conclusion of the semester.  This year the EOC exams will count 20% of the final semester grade only if the exam score helps to improve the students’ overall grade. If the EOC exam does not improve a student’s grade then it will not be included in the calculation of the final grade.

Spring Valley will be hosting EOC preparation events, more information about those events will be sent out in January. For more information about EOCs and Semester 1 exams, please visit our Semester 1 Exam Information website. We encourage all of our students Show Us What You Know on your EOC exams!

Boys Soccer Information

Parents & Players,

Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a wonderful and safe holiday season. We just received word today that conditioning is officially on!  We will start conditioning tomorrow!  Each week until tryouts we will condition TUE-THU 4:15-5:30pm.

During conditioning we ask all players to follow these guidelines:

1) Have all necessary paperwork completed on Planet HS or you can’t condition.

2) Have a mask on your person at all times.

3) Have tennis shoes and cleats each day and dress appropriately for weather. We may be at the fields.  We may be at the stadium. Parents, please pick up your sons in the tennis parking lot each day at 5:35pm.

4) I will check your temperature at the beginning of each conditioning session at the gate between the game field and practice field and a roster will be turned in to the athletic trainers for contact tracing purposes.

5) Don’t come to the conditioning sessions if you’re symptomatic.

Unfortunately, we can only accommodate 30 players for conditioning due to COVID protocols at this time.  Each of our two coaches will have their own facility and 15 players.  We have more than 30 players considering returners and prospective players, so the fairest way to do this is by sign ups.  Each day there will be a sign up sheet posted as a google form on the app and it’s first come first serve.  You must sign up each day and you can only sign up for that day.  If you don’t sign up for the app, you won’t have access to the sign up google form and you can’t participate in conditioning.  Information about the app is below.

*If we have more than 30 sign ups for a particular day those players on that list will be guaranteed a spot for the following day.  Remember, you must fill out a new google form for each day.

As a reminder, players make sure you join us on TeamApp:

1) Access and/or Download TeamApp (www.teamapp.com)

2) Create a TeamApp account

3) Search for Spring Valley Boys Soccer

4) Join our app and the “Interested Players” group

5) Complete the “Player Profile (Google Form)” found under Web Links (https://forms.gle/er9y3imXcWkAggHb7)

As always, the Spring Valley Boys Soccer program appreciates your support and patience during these difficult times. Please be considerate of your choices when it comes to wearing masks and social distancing. The upcoming Spring 2021 season will be upon us sooner than we all realize. Our annual Snap Raise! campaign will begin during the 2nd week of February. We ask that everyone start collecting email addresses now in preparation for that month-long campaign.

Thank you for your time!

Coach McKinney & Coach Eichelberger
