Drill Team Wins FIRST at State

Spring Valley’s Drill Team competed against 16 schools on Saturday to earn its THIRD CONSECUTIVE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP for precision drill. Out of 12 categories, the team won 1st place honors in 7 categories, and finished 2nd in three categories. Our Color Guard specifically is rated the BEST in the state!!
Spring Valley’s Academic Quiz Team Earns Second Place in the State Academic Challenge Tournament

Spring Valley’s Academic Quiz Team captured second place in the State Academic Challenge Tournament that took place at Francis Marion University on March 17th. The team earned a spot in the tournament by winning all of its Midlands Collaboration regular season matches. At the state tournament, Spring Valley defeated Clinton High School by a score of 28-24 in the semifinal round to advance to the finals.
Although Spring Valley fought hard in the finals round, Rock Hill earned the win by a score of 48-30. Team members included (standing from left to right in picture) Michael Papaletsos (11), Hunter Shissias (11), Jack McDonald (11), Chelsea McFadden (11), Arijith Venkat (9), and (kneeling) Fionn O’Connor (10). Max Berg (10), not pictured, competed in matches during the regular season. The team is coached by Dr. Michelle Wyatt and practices every Friday during lunch in room C205. Senior SlideShow

Submissions for the Senior Slideshow will be accepted starting April 3rd. This is one of the highlights of the Senior Assembly. The cost for submission is $3 for one photo and $5 for three photos. Payment can be made to Ms. Bouchey in C-222. In the past seniors have turned in a series of pictures – baby, middle years, and a current picture – or some friend pics. No selfies! The deadline for submission is April 28th, but the sooner they are submitted, the better! **Please note that Ms. Bouchey will be out of town the week of April 18-22 so please plan accordingly. Power Forward Program

4th Quarter Junior Privilege

A second-semester junior is eligible for off-campus lunch provided that he/she meets specific qualifications and does not violate school policies pertaining to the Responsibilities Earns Privileges Program. Once earning the privilege to leave campus at lunch, the student will forfeit it for the remainder of the year if she/he is suspended for any reason or earns a D or F at the end of the grading period. “Junior Privilege” does not entitle student-parking privileges. Any student leaving campus is expected to represent Spring Valley High School in an exemplary manner characteristic of Viking behavior and academics.
Applications are Due by March 30th to Ms. Blue, in the Library.
