Congratulations to Karah Barry!

Congratulations to Karah Barry, a senior captain on the Spring Valley girls’ soccer team! Karah is the 2021 recipient of the Spring Valley Viking Cup Ashley Nicole Dent Memorial Scholarship ($1,000). The Ashley Nicole Dent Memorial Scholarship is in honor of Spring Valley varsity soccer player Ashley Dent who was lost in 2006. Ever since, Ashley’s memory has been honored by the girls’ soccer program in a variety of ways, including through two memorial scholarships – one presented through the Viking Cup soccer tournament and the other to a senior on the girls’ team.
This year, due to the tournament being canceled, applicants were required to submit an essay responding to a prompt related to Ashley’s outstanding character and how their own similar character traits were positively impactful in a variety of ways. Two dozen teams had applicants, and a committee of nine individuals (five coaches from different Viking Cup participating teams and four Spring Valley teachers and administrators) selected Karah as the runaway winner. She was, in fact, the first Spring Valley player to win this scholarship. Next year, Karah will attend North Greenville University on full scholarship for academics and athletics, where she will continue her soccer career while double-majoring in Psychology and Legal Studies (pre-law).
Congratulations to Spring Valley’s Karah Barry!

Yearbook Senior Tributes

Senior Tributes for 2021 Yearbook – As everybody knows, the Class of 2021 has not had the senior year they all imagined. From online learning to virtual pep rallies, students have certainly not experienced the senior year they expected. However, there is still one tradition enduring the unknown circumstances of this school year. Senior tributes are one part of senior year that you can count on through photos and written sentiments. In these unpredictable times, make sure to remember and encapsulate this time in your senior’s life. Take this opportunity to recognize his or her accomplishments with a personal tribute in the 2021 edition of the Spring Valley yearbook, Saga. This yearbook is one of the few celebrations of the Class of 2021, let your student remember all the special people and happenings from high school. Personal tributes are available in a variety of sizes and prices.
