SVHS Artists Continue to Shine Across the Region 🎨

Spring Valley artists continue to make us proud with outstanding accomplishments in regional and statewide exhibitions!

On March 14, senior Jason Peay was awarded 1st Place in the SC Central Region Youth Art Month Exhibit. His winning artwork will now move on to compete at the statewide show. The Central Region exhibit is currently on display at the Richland Library Main Branch downtown through the end of the month.

  • Jason Peay
  • Lucie Kendall
  • Leola Kendall
  • Katie Thornton
  • Rylee Cleare

Once artist numbers are available, more information will be shared so supporters attending the festival can vote for these students.

In addition, Congaree National Park is publishing Old Growth: An Anthology Inspired by Congaree National Park, which features artwork by Emma Larson along with nine Spring Valley artists from last semester’s Art III and IV classes. These student artists are:

  • Leola Kendall
  • Lucie Kendall

NHS Spring Food Donation Project 🌎💙

Spring Valley’s National Honor Society (NHS) continues to make a meaningful impact through its Spring Food Donation Project.

NHS members prepared a collection of healthy, homemade, and nutritious food items to support members of our local community in need. More importantly, students took the time not just to give—but to serve with dignity, compassion, and care, creating meaningful connections with those they helped.

This effort reflects Spring Valley’s commitment to developing students who are not only academically strong but also compassionate and service-driven leaders. Through initiatives like this, our students continue to foster a culture of giving and make a lasting difference in our community.

Thank you, NHS, for representing The Valley with heart and purpose! 🌎💙💚💛

During this time, students and staff paused their day to focus on reading, promoting literacy and the importance of making time for books. The challenge encouraged everyone to slow down, engage with a good read, and log their minutes in Beanstack.

Events like D.E.A.R. help build a strong reading culture at The Valley while reminding our students that reading is both valuable and enjoyable.

Thank you to everyone who participated and made this challenge a success! 💚💛📚
