Discovery Junior Qualifies for Prestigious International Science and Engineering Fair
We are thrilled to share the exciting news that Colin Tang, a junior in the Discovery Magnet Program, has been chosen to compete at the prestigious Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF)! This notable competition, which showcases the talents of the most accomplished high school scientists from 80 countries around the world, will take place from May 10-16 in Columbus, OH.
About the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair
The Regeneron ISEF is renowned for its high standards and is recognized as one of the world’s most esteemed pre-college science fairs. It offers a global platform for young scientists to present their groundbreaking research and innovations. Participants have the unique opportunity to engage with and learn from leading scientists, researchers, and educators. ISEF provides a stage for tomorrow’s leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to shine.
SVHS Student Council Earns National Award
For its exemplary record of leadership, service, and activities that improve the school and community, the Spring Valley student council has been recognized as a 2025 National [Gold] Council of Excellence by the National Association of Student Councils (NASC). The NASC program is supported by its parent organization, the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).
“The student council at Spring Valley just pulled off something extraordinary,” said NASSP CEO Ronn Nozoe. “Their student-driven change has earned them national recognition as a National [Gold] Council of Excellence, proving that when young people are given the chance to lead, they turn their vision into real-world impact.”
A student council must meet a variety of criteria to earn the National [Gold] Council of Excellence Award. In addition to basic requirements such as a written constitution, regular meetings and a democratic election process, the councils must have demonstrated successful sponsorship and participation in activities such as leadership development and service to the school and community.

National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) Induction Ceremony
Congratulations to the officers and members who were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) for the 2024 -2025 school year! The officers and members include: Kaliah Allen, Alexandra Brown, Ari Harris (Vice-President), Savana-Lee Heffner-Parrish, Aniyah Johnson (Secretary), Jayla Johnson, Morgan Miller (President), Helen Nobles, Shaniyah Odom (Treasurer), Jaden Quinn, Zia Samules, Jonathan Scott, and Kamryn Young (Historian).
Arclabs Welding School Visits Spring Valley
Today, Spring Valley had the privilege of hosting representatives from Arclabs Welding School. They were here to provide information about their esteemed Master Welder Program, an excellent opportunity for students interested in pursuing a career in welding.
Scholarships for Juniors and Seniors
Arclabs is offering a generous incentive to juniors and seniors who are considering joining their program after graduation. Each attending junior and senior received a $1000 scholarship to help cover tuition costs at Arclabs. This support can significantly ease the financial burden of continuing education and training.

The 2025 Miss Spring Valley Pageant, themed “Beauty Unplugged,” was truly a night to remember. All seven of our contestants shone brightly, showcasing their beauty, talent, and confidence on stage. We are immensely proud of each and every one of them for their outstanding performances.

Spring Valley Academic Quiz Team is headed to Nationals!!
Exciting news for the Spring Valley Academic Quiz Team! After a stellar performance at the Aiken Triple Crown Challenge on March 22nd, where they secured fourth place, the team has qualified for the 2025 High School National Championship Tournament. This prestigious event will take place in Atlanta, Georgia, where they will showcase their talents against the top high school teams in the nation.

Free to Focus
We wanted to remind all parents and students that the “Free to Focus” initiative has been fully implemented. This state-mandated policy aims to enhance the learning environment and ensure that all students can concentrate better on their studies. The policy includes specific guidelines and support measures designed to reduce distractions and foster a more productive educational experience. We encourage everyone to familiarize themselves with the details of this policy to ensure a smooth transition and successful implementation. Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to creating an optimal learning atmosphere for our students.
Student Parking
Students will no longer be allowed to utilize the parking lot in front of the gym upon arrival to school. This parking lot is reserved for Staff and Visitors only in the mornings. Students will begin receiving tickets and parking fines when parking in this area. All students must have the appropriate parking pass to utilize any campus parking and must park in the Upper/Junior Lot unless assigned a designated Senior Parking Spot elsewhere on campus. Students may use the Gym Lot upon returning from lunch or for after-school activities. Again, students may not use the Gym Lot any earlier than the beginning of the 5th period.
