March 7th Viking Update

Posted on 7 Mar 2022 By svvikingupdate

Guest Speaker, Lieutenant General Maria R. Gervais

Today Spring Valley High School was honored to have Lieutenant General Maria R. Gervias with the United States Army speak to our students. If you would like to view the event please click here to watch it on our Facebook Page.

Palmetto Boys State

Attention Junior boys,

WHAT IS BOY’S STATE?

The American Legion’s Boys State program is a unique way for young men to learn about the American system of government and politics by participating in a mock governmental system.

We call it a “Laboratory of Government” because during the week each young man will have the opportunity to run for and be elected to mock offices ranging from city level (e.g. city council, mayor) to state constitutional offices (e.g. lieutenant governor and governor).

Sparkleberry Lane Construction

We wanted to let all of our families know that we will be experiencing some traffic issues on Sparkleberry Lane in front of the school over the next 2-3 months.  Richland County will be making updates to the gas lines, storm drains, and adding sidewalks.  Work crews will do their best to minimize the impact to arrival and departure times at school.  If you are a car rider or student driver, we strongly encourage you to arrive early to school to make sure you are on time for class.

After School Tutoring

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is Copy-of-Yellow-Bold-Text-Tutor-Flyer.png

We will offer both on-campus and virtual tutoring options this year.  Offering both platforms allows us to provide more options for students to get academic assistance after school.  Please visit the SVHS Tutoring website for a complete schedule of the tutoring opportunities.

A special thank you goes out to the Spring Valley Education Foundation for funding this important initiative.
