Parent University Virtual Session for Seniors

Mark your calendars and plan to attend one of the Parent University Virtual Sessions for Seniors on Tuesday, September 28, 2021. For your convenience, two identical sessions are being offered. The first hour-long session will be offered from 10:00 am – 11:00 am, the second will take place from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm.
The senior conferences with school counselors are underway. In addition to learning more about your child’s graduation status and discussing their future plans, take advantage of this virtual session which is being offered by the College and Career Center (CCC). We will introduce the importance and timing of the FAFSA, review the criteria for state subsidized scholarships, present useful tips on developing winning essays, provide best practices for writing attention grabbing resumes, and identify key sources regarding recommendation letters. We will also share our expertise on ACT/SAT and ASVAB testing along with optimizing the Naviance college and career platform.

Repair and Replacement Cost Schedule
To reduce the potential burden to students and parents, and to simplify the assessment of costs for schools, the cost schedule is generalized into major, minor, and cosmetic charges. Costs are based on our current models. It is possible that lower-cost options are available through third parties in some cases, but we can not accept substitutes or alternative repair proposals. Loss is not covered by insurance.
Full Replacement CostFor loss, theft or in cases where damage is so severe that repair is not cost effective. | $350 |

College Application Day Friday, October 1st. We will have college reps available to assist you with your college applications, essay writing tips and resume writing. If you do not have an English, Econ, or Govt class this semester you can stop by the College and Career Center located in the guidance office and pick up the application waiver information.

PSAT Testing – October 13, 2021

On Wednesday, October 13, 2021, we are hosting the PSAT/NMSQT college readiness assessment. ALL Spring Valley Freshmen and Sophomores are scheduled to take the PSAT/NMSQT free of charge (provided by Richland Two and the SCDE). All Juniors have the option to take the PSAT/NMSQT as well but they must sign up to take the assessment.
Juniors (Class of 2023) who wish to take the PSAT/NMSQT must register using the PSAT Registration Form. Only PSAT/NMSQT scores from a student’s Junior year, will make him or her eligible for the National Merit Scholarship Program. The deadline to register for Juniors is Wednesday, October 6, 2021.
This year’s administration of the PSAT/NMSQT will also be FREE for any junior who signs up to take the assessment. The Spring Valley Education Foundation (SVEF) is covering the $17.00 cost of the PSAT/NMSQT for any junior wishing to take the assessment. Thank you SVEF for your continued support of our students’ academic success!
ONLY Juniors need to complete the PSAT Registration Form. The form must be filled out by the student, while signed in to your Richland 2 account.
