New Chromebook Distribution Information

Attention Spring Valley Parents & Guardians,

Now that Phase 2 has started, Spring Valley High School students will begin receiving new Chromebooks. Some students have already been issued a new Dell 3100 Chromebook and case.  For those that have not yet received one, we will start rollout on Monday, Nov. 16th. This will be for face-to-face students only. Students will need to bring their Chromebook and charger to school. Students will be receiving their new Chromebook through their English classes.

We will have new Chromebook distribution for virtual students on Friday, November 20th, from 1 -3 pm. Any virtual student who still needs the new 3100 Chromebook and case will need to bring their old Chromebook and charger to SVHS to exchange it for a new 3100 on that day.

Mon-Thur, Nov. 16-19: In-person students will receive Chromebooks in their English classes next week. They need to bring their old Chromebook and charger to school with them.

Fri, Nov 20: Virtual students will need to come to SVHS between the hours of 1-3pm.

Again, please be sure that the week of November 16th that your child brings both their Chromebook and charger to school on Monday/Tuesday for AA students and on Wednesday/Thursday for BB students.

PHASE 2 MEAL SERVICE PLAN

E-learner meal pickup (Unchanged):
We’ve received approval to offer E-learners a “7-day pack” of meals on Fridays, beginning on November 6th, 2020. Parents/E-Learning students will have the ability to pick up meals from 6 schools: R2I2, Longleaf Middle, Dent Middle, Muller Road Middle, Summit Parkway Middle, and E.L. Wright Middle curbside on Fridays between 8:00 am until 11:00 am. Students will receive a variety of meals including sandwiches, frozen items with reheating information such as burgers, chicken nuggets, chicken sandwiches, etc. As we are operating under SSO, we will only request the name of the student. We will not request any additional documentation (as of October 26th, subject to change).

Phase 2 meal service: We understand all schools have different plans for meal service, as students, schedules, and school blueprints differ. While meals are at no cost, we need to ensure we have accountability measures in place for auditing and reimbursement purposes (scanning ID cards, student bar codes). We’ve met with many schools already and will make ourselves available to support in any way.

Weekend meals for in-person students: According to feedingamerica.org, 1 in 6 children struggles with hunger and food insecurity. We are fortunate that the USDA has extended the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) that allows us to feed students at no cost, and on weekends and some holidays*.

  • Weekend meals (Unchanged) (Elementary): On Fridays (only) Elementary students will be offered weekend “light meals” to provide sustenance for Saturdays and Sundays. These meals will include Uncrustables, Nutrigrain bars, and assorted fruit/juice offerings. Please work with your cafeteria staff on how this distribution will look on Fridays (eg. offered as students approach bus loop, allow students to grab from the cafeteria at end of the day, etc.). Please encourage your students to take a meal through morning/afternoon announcements, etc!
  • Weekend meals(Secondary) (Only change): AA/BB students: will be offered 5-day meal packs on Fridays, beginning on November 6th, 2020. Parents/secondary students will have the ability to pick up meals from 6 schools: R2I2, Longleaf Middle, Dent Middle, Muller Road Middle, Summit Parkway Middle, and E.L. Wright Middle curbside on Fridays between 8:00 am until 11:00 am.
