Theme: The Great American Game — ValleyBowl Homecoming 2025
Homecoming is here, and we need your Viking spirit all week long! Show up, dress up, and hype up our team as we count down to ValleyBowl.
Dress-Up Days
- Monday — Punk Rock Day: Break out the band tees, flannel, and (dress-code-friendly) edge.
- Tuesday — Country Day: Boots, plaid, denim—bring the yee-haw.
- Wednesday — PJ Day: Comfy, cozy, and school-appropriate sleepwear.
- Thursday — Hip-Hop Day: Fresh fits and clean kicks—own the hallway runway.
- Friday — Homecoming Shirt Day: Rep your ValleyBowl Homecoming 2025 shirt and the Great American Game theme!
Please keep all outfits school-appropriate and within the dress code.

Events This Week
- Tuesday: Classes Night — 6:00–7:00 p.m.
- Wednesday: Movie Night — 7:30–9:30 p.m.
- Thursday: Bengal Burn — 8:00–9:30 p.m.
- Friday: Pep Rally & Game — It’s go-time! Pack the stands and bring the noise.
Game Day: Let’s Pack the Valley
Wear your homecoming shirt or your green and gold, fill the student section, and make it the loudest night of the year. Let’s pump up the football team and show our Viking spirit from kickoff to the final whistle!

Vikings at the Ed-Op College Fair: Nearly 1,000 Strong!🎓💚💛
Tuesday, September 16, 2025 — Spring Valley showed up in a big way at the Ed-Op College Fair! We had 474 juniors and 481 seniors—that’s 955 Vikings—exploring life after high school.

- 65+ organizations represented: colleges, universities, technical schools, and the military
- Students connected with reps, asked smart questions, and discovered new pathways and possibilities

Spring Valley Students Explore Health & Wellness Careers

On Thursday, September 18th, Spring Valley students visited the Southeastern Health & Wellness Institute, an accredited program through the Council on Occupational Education. Students learned about career pathways in esthetics, massage therapy, medical assisting, and nail technology—programs designed to blend hands-on training with real-world experience.
A special thank you goes to our CDFs, Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Buie, for guiding our Vikings on this valuable field study opportunity.

Celebrating 105 Years with the Kiwanis Club of Columbia

Spring Valley Key Club President Ainsley Ropel and Key Club Advisor Erin Reeves were honored to attend the Kiwanis Club of Columbia’s installation of new officers. The evening celebrated 105 years of service with inspiring messages from Carolinas District Kiwanis Governor John Hethcox, Carolinas CKI Advisor Jennifer Hethcox, and the newly elected leaders.

Lunch and Learn

The Spring Valley Counseling Department hosted its first Lunch & Learn, giving students the opportunity to sharpen their skills, explore career pathways, and connect with real-world professionals.
Students met with Lakenna McCorey, Director of Volunteer Services at Lexington Medical Extended Care, who shared insights on careers in health care and community service. A special thank you to Ms. McCorey for speaking with our students and to our CDFs, Mrs. Buie and Mrs. Jones, for creating this valuable event.
The next Lunch & Learn will be held on September 25th and will feature Brent Whitesides, Mechanical Engineer at Ford.

Ways to Serve Detention

STUDENT PRIVILEGE

- Only Seniors may leave for Lunch
- Seniors must have a Senior ID (navy blue with number 12) to leave campus. No ID, No Senior Privilege that day
- Seniors returning late from lunch may have Senior Privileges revoked
- The gym parking lot is not for student parking during the school day. Cars will be ticketed
- No lunch deliveries for any students

We will offer both on-campus and virtual tutoring options. Offering both platforms allows us to provide more options for students to get academic assistance after school. Please visit the SVHS Tutoring website for a complete schedule of tutoring opportunities.
