Spring Valley students are showcasing their artistic talents across the district and region! Several of our student artists currently have work on display in multiple exhibits celebrating creativity and artistic achievement.
Richland Two District Art Show
The Richland Two District Art Show is currently on display at the Richland Two District Performing Arts Center through the end of the month.
The Open House Celebration for the artists was held last night, where students and families had the opportunity to view the artwork and celebrate the incredible talent across the district.

Spring Valley High School’s 11th Annual Discovery/Explorations Poster Session is a unique opportunity for our students, faculty, and staff to engage with the brilliant minds of our Discovery and Explorations students. This event showcases the innovative research and internships undertaken by our talented students.
During the poster session, students were stationed beside their poster boards, ready to engage with attendees. They presented their work, discussed their findings, and shared insights gained from their research and internship experiences. This interactive format allowed for a dynamic exchange of ideas and provided an opportunity for students to showcase their hard work and dedication.

D.E.A.R. Challenge: Drop Everything and Read — March 18 📚⏱️
On Wednesday, March 18, Spring Valley will host a school-wide reading challenge called D.E.A.R. — Drop Everything And Read during 3rd Period ILT!
During ILT, we’re asking everyone to stop everything and read for 15 minutes. Students and faculty are encouraged to participate. Reading minutes will be verified through our reading platform, Beanstack.
How to Participate (Beanstack)
Most students and faculty can access Beanstack through ClassLink:
- Log in to ClassLink and open Beanstack
- Select the D.E.A.R. Challenge
- Click Log Reading
- Enter your book information
- Start the timer, read for 15 minutes, then stop the timer
🎉 Everyone who completes the challenge will be entered into a raffle for prizes like Benny plushies, candy, stickers, and more!

Spring Valley Rotary Club Scholarship Opportunity 🎓
The Spring Valley Rotary Club will honor two graduating seniors from Spring Valley High School with a $2,500 scholarship to support their continued education.
This competitive scholarship will be awarded based on the following criteria:
- Financial need – 50%
- Scholastic achievement – 25%
- Initiative and motivation – 25%
Eligible applicants must be graduating seniors at Spring Valley High School who plan to attend an accredited institution of higher learning in the fall following graduation. This may include a technical school, junior college, business college, college, or university.
Recipients will be required to submit proof of enrollment and a copy of their enrollment bill before scholarship funds are released. Funds will be paid directly to the college or university.

SC Business Week Program – Summer 2026 💼📊💚💛
Spring Valley students are invited to apply for the SC Business Week Program, hosted by the University of South Carolina Darla Moore School of Business (Columbia campus). This dynamic summer experience gives students hands-on exposure to the world of business, leadership, and entrepreneurship.
📍 Location: USC Columbia – Darla Moore School of Business
📅 Dates: July 19–24, 2026
👩🎓 Eligibility: Rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors
📊 GPA Requirement: 3.0 or higher (other GPAs considered with a recommendation letter)
💰 Scholarships Available (Totaling $15,000)
- S. Hunter Howard, Jr. Business Week Scholarship – $5,000
- Ron McNair Leadership Scholarship – $5,000
- Two SCMC Leadership Scholarships – $2,500 each
Note: Recipients of the first two scholarships must attend an in-state college or university. Scholarship applications are sent after program acceptance.
Thanks to generous business sponsorships, the only cost to students is a $75 application fee.

Presidential 1776 Award: National Civics Scholarship Competition 📚
Spring Valley students are invited to participate in the Presidential 1776 Award, a nationwide competition that recognizes exceptional student knowledge of American civics and the principles that shaped the United States. This program serves as a national scholarship contest, evaluating students’ understanding of the founding and the civic framework of our nation.
The competition includes three rounds of multiple-choice and verbal examinations developed independently by the James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation. Three national winners will receive scholarships totaling $250,000, with the National Finals held in Washington, D.C. in June 2026.
Competition Rounds
Round One: The Impossible Civics Test (February 22–28, 2026)
Students will complete an online, timed, electronically proctored multiple-choice exam.
- 90 minutes total
- Up to 4,000 randomized questions on civics and founding history
- Divided into three 30-minute sections of increasing difficulty
- Scored using a weighted system based on correctness and question difficulty
This is the qualifying round, and four finalists from each state will be selected.
Round Two: Regional Semifinals (May 2026)
State finalists advance to one of five regional semifinals, consisting of short-answer verbal competitions held simultaneously across the country.
- The top four students from each region move on to the national final.
Round Three: National Final (Late June 2026 — Washington, D.C.)
Students will answer short-answer verbal questions and earn a point for each correct response.
- The top three winners receive scholarships of up to $150,000.
