Happy School Counseling Appreciation Week to our incredible school counselors: Dr. Durant, Ms. Darby, Ms. Bright, Ms. O’Dell, Ms. Spain, Ms. Romigh, and Mr. Joyner! Thank you for your dedication, guidance, and unwavering support of our students every single day.

We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire Counseling Department staff in the School Counseling Office. We truly appreciate Ms. Bishton, Ms. Buie, Ms. Daniels, Ms. Draft, Ms. Felix, Ms. Jones, Ms. Pope, Ms. Willingham, and Ms. Wright for all that you do to support our students, families, and staff.

Your commitment helps our Vikings succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. We are grateful for each of you and proud to say that we are #StrongerTogether 💚💛

Congratulations, Vikings—Second Quarter Honor Roll! 💚💛

Congratulations to our students who earned Second Quarter Honor Roll! We are proud to recognize all of our Super Star students who made the “A” and “A/B” Honor Roll through their hard work and dedication.

A special thank you to Mitch Uehling, owner of CiCi’s Pizza, for partnering with Spring Valley High School to celebrate our honor roll students. Students received a coupon for a free buffet with the purchase of another buffet—what a great way to reward academic success!

Congratulations again to our students, and thank you, CiCi’s, for all you do for Spring Valley. Go Vikings! 💚💛

Spring Valley Hosts Spring Open House 🌸💚💛

This Wednesday, Spring Valley High School held its Spring Open House, welcoming families to campus for an evening of connection and collaboration.

A big Viking thank you to NewSpring Church for generously providing Chick-fil-A sandwiches and salads for our faculty and staff before the event. After a long workday, the meal gave our team a much-needed boost of energy as they prepared to welcome families.

We also want to thank the parents and guardians who came out to meet their students’ teachers, ask questions, and engage in meaningful conversations. This partnership between home and school is essential as we work together to help our students stay on track and reach their goals.

Thank you to everyone who helped make Spring Open House a success! 💚💛

This program serves as a national scholarship contest, evaluating students’ understanding of the founding and the civic framework of our nation.

The competition includes three rounds of multiple-choice and verbal examinations developed independently by the James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation. Three national winners will receive scholarships totaling $250,000, with the National Finals held in Washington, D.C. in June 2026.

Competition Rounds

Round One: The Impossible Civics Test (February 22–28, 2026)

Students will complete an online, timed, electronically proctored multiple-choice exam.

  • 90 minutes total
  • Up to 4,000 randomized questions on civics and founding history
  • Divided into three 30-minute sections of increasing difficulty
  • Scored using a weighted system based on correctness and question difficulty

This is the qualifying round, and four finalists from each state will be selected.

Round Two: Regional Semifinals (May 2026)

State finalists advance to one of five regional semifinals, consisting of short-answer verbal competitions held simultaneously across the country.

  • The top four students from each region move on to the national final.

Round Three: National Final (Late June 2026 — Washington, D.C.)

Students will answer short-answer verbal questions and earn a point for each correct response.
