SVHS Students Selected for the 2023 SCMEA Region III Honor Orchestra

Spring Valley Academic Quiz Team Opens the Season at the Carlanna Hendrick Academic Tournament (CHAT)

Spring Valley’s Quiz team had a very impressive showing at CHAT, hosted by the SC Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics. Spring Valley was one of only three traditional public high school teams to compete in an exceptionally talented field of 16 academic quiz teams from across the Carolinas. Spring Valley went undefeated for the five matches in the preliminary round and was the only non-specialized high school to advance to the championship round. In the championship round, Spring Valley won two of five matches, losing two close ones by scores of 250-265 and 200-245, ultimately placing 4th overall, one spot shy of a trophy.

The team is coached by Dr. Michelle Wyatt. A huge thank you to Dr. Stephanie Berg for serving as an additional chaperon and scorekeeper for the team. Finally, the entire Academic Quiz Club would like to thank the Spring Valley Education Foundation for funding the purchase of their buzzer system used for practices every Friday during lunch. New quiz club members are always welcome!

Cupcakes for Success

Today SVHS Cupcakes for Success program present all students who made 77% or above in all their courses on their first quarter report card an opportunity to get a free cupcake. Congratulations on a job well done, and Thank You to the Spring Valley Education Foundation for purchasing the cupcakes.

Honor Roll Students Recognized for Academic Excellence

Mitch Uehling, owner of CiCi’s Pizza, partnered with Spring Valley High School to recognize all of the Super Star students who made the “A” and “A/B” honor roll. Students received a coupon for a free buffet as long as another was purchased with it. Congratulations to all these hard-working students! Thank you, CiCi’s for all you do for Spring Valley. Go Vikings!

Gamecocks Esports Show match

Game: Rocket League
What: Watch a competitive esports match between the USC Gamecocks Esports team and another team TBA, participate in 1-on-1 and group coaching sessions from USC Esport athletes, learn about potential Esport careers and academic offerings here at USC, meet collegiate esport coaches to expand your network, and more!
Cost: FREE (food and drinks will be provided – tbd on type of food)
