VIKING TEACHER/STAFF OF THE MONTH

Who is your favorite Teacher & Support Staff Employee of The Month? Please take a moment to fill out the October nomination form that was emailed to students and parents. This October we are voting for your favorite English Teacher and Support Staff (Counseling Dept.). Voting will end on November 4th at 4:00 pm. The winner for each month will be selected and announced at the designated time. Please note that your nomination letter will be shared with the teacher and classified employee selected.

Do you have some interest in working with children in the future (teaching, counseling, law enforcement, coaching, nursing, etc.)?  If you have a GPA of a 3.0 or higher, no suspensions, and good attendance, please reach out to Mrs. Dilley in Classroom D329 if you would be interested in taking the Teacher Cadet class next semester.  The class is 1/2 period.

The South Carolina Teaching Fellows Program is entering its 24th year of offering the state’s brightest and best students up to $24,000 over four years to become South Carolina educators.

Here’s what you need to know about the Teaching Fellows Program.

Includes enrichment programs, professional development, and leadership opportunities Supplies up to a $6,000 fellowship annually for four years (as long as the student is in the process of completing a degree leading to initial teacher certification and meets the criteria to continue in the Program) Requires participants to agree to teach/serve in an approved educational capacity in a South Carolina public school one year for each year funding is received and sign a Promissory Note along with a surety.

Teaching Fellows must attend one of the eleven Teaching Fellows Institutions. These include Anderson University, Charleston Southern University, Clemson University, Coastal Carolina University, College of Charleston, Francis Marion University, Lander University, USC Aiken, USC Columbia, USC Upstate, and Winthrop University.

As you begin to make plans for your family gatherings during the holiday season, please consider purchasing a gift card to use towards your purchase of a Honey Baked Ham or some of their other fabulous sides. Funds raised by the soccer program will go towards the purchase of equipment, uniforms, and apparel for both the JV and Varsity programs.
