FIERCE “Thanksgiving Baskets of Blessings”

On, November 17th, the F.I.E.R.C.E Spring Valley Female mentoring group gave back by preparing ten baskets filled with everything needed for a complete Thanksgiving meal. F.I.E.R.C.E provided baskets of food to needy families in our community. We want to give a big thank you to everyone who donated to our school fundraiser and Publix Charites for their donation. From our FIERCE Spring Valley Family we want to wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

SV Artists at State of the District

It was a honor to have three Spring Valley students drawing and creating works of art at the Richland Two State of the District on November 17th. Spring Valley students Ella Harmon, Reese Morgan, and Pedro Robertson worked the entire time on their art and although they didn’t finish they are going to look awesome when they are!

Mr. Drews spring valley’s art teacher join in the fun and drew this incredible piece of the speakers from the State of the District that enthusiastically expressed the joy of the incredible accomplishments of our Richland 2 students, teachers, and schools.

Spring Valley JROTC Dominates Meet

Saturday afternoon witnessed a first for Spring Valley JROTC. Not only did the Drill, Raider, and Academic Teams compete in a combined meet at Fort Dorchester High School, but all three teams won first place in each of their competitions. The State Champion Drill Team is used to winning and winning big, and Saturday was no different. Out of 10 possible categories of competition, Spring Valley earned first place finishes in seven of them, winning the overall Drill Team Championship for the meet. The Team led by Cadet Lt Col Ariel Lugo and Cadet Major Leila Sherman guided the team to its third overall win this year. The Academic Team earned first place honors in its competition as well.

The team led by Cadet 2Lt My Nguyen bested seven other schools finishing its highest ever in a combined meet. The surprise of the day came from the Viking Raider Team. In a show of strength, speed, and stamina not seen before, the team won first place in five of six categories. Led by Cadet CMSgt Jordan Lewis and Cadet MSgt Hayden Harki, the team totally dominated the competition from start to finish taking first place honors overall. The Spring Valley JROTC earned first place finishes in 13 of 17 possible competition categories adding 18 trophies to its display cases.

The program took a giant step forward not in just winning the Overall Champion title, but in establishing itself as an all around program of excellence! The Viking Raiders will compete again for the Best in State title in Blythewood on 10 December. The rest of the teams will see action again in the new year.
