SAVE THE DATES
You will be receiving communication over the next few weeks about our upcoming standardized tests that we are administering on campus. Communication will be sent this week to those seniors who signed up to take the school day SAT and school day ACT. Additionally, we will be hosting our annual school day PSAT for 9th, 10th, and selec 11th graders. All 9th and 10th grade students are automatically signed up to take the PSAT. A sign up form will be sent from School Counseling for those 11th graders who are interested in taking the PSAT NMSQT. Look for additional emails this week and next from Mr. Dobyns about testing.
Have You Purchased The Technology Insurance?
Parents, please make sure you take advantage of the district’s Technology Insurance. This is a $20.00 fee available on parent portal that will assist in covering repairs that may occur to your child’s Chromebook. You have until September 30, 2020 to purchase this insurance. You will not be able to purchase the technology insurance after September 30, 2020. We encourage all parents to log on to your child’s parent portal account and pay this important fee.
If you are having Chromebook issues, here is a Chromebook Troubleshooting sheet. For technology support during Phase 1, you can take your Chromebook to Longleaf Middle School, Monday – Thursday from 8 am – 4 pm for assistance from district technology staff.

School Improvement Council (SIC) Self-Nomination Form 2020-2021
The SVHS School Improvement Council (SIC) is made up of an elected and appointed membership that includes students, parents, teachers, administrators and community representatives. This is mandated by state law and written in our bylaws which are available upon request. Each year, two parent/guardian representatives from each grade level serve on SIC.
For the 2020-2021 school year Parents/Guardians of Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior students are invited to submit their name(s) for election. In effort to slow the spread of COVID-19, we are requesting that
NOMINATIONS be submitted ONLINE or by completing the Self-Nomination Form IN PERSON and dropping it in the SIC BALLOT BOX in the atrium area.
The safety of our families/students/faculty & staff is our top priority.
ELECTIONS will take place on September 23, 2020. Parents will have the option to vote by submitting an ONLINE Election Form or by completing the Election Form IN PERSON and dropping it in the SIC BALLOT BOX in the atrium area on September 23, 2020, between the hours of 8:00am – 4:00pm. The parents receiving the highest number of votes will become our newly elected SIC representatives. Announcement of the final membership of the 2020-2021 SIC will be published in the Viking Update and on the school website. All regular SIC meetings will be virtual until notified otherwise and are open to all parents/guardians, students and community members. Meeting dates and times are published at the start of the school year. For more information contact the front office at 803-699-3500.
