Spring Valley Honors Breast Cancer Awareness Month 💗
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Spring Valley proudly joined in honoring survivors, remembering those we’ve lost, and supporting those still fighting. On October 9th, our students, faculty, and staff showed their support by wearing all pink.
A special thank you goes to the Spring Valley Science National Honor Society for selling Pink Out shirts and merchandise and collecting donations for the Prisma Health Midlands Foundation Walk for Life. We also salute the many faculty and staff members who participated in the Walk for Life to support cancer research in the Midlands.
Our football stadium was even lit up pink last Thursday night as we honored all the survivors and fighters within our Viking community. 💗
Thank you, Viking Nation, for your support — whether financially or physically — as we continue to stand together in the fight against breast cancer. 💪 #VikingPride #PinkOut

FIERCE Sunshine Station Spreads Positivity ☀️💛
Last week, the Spring Valley FIERCE Female Mentoring Group empowered Mental Health Awareness Month with a special Sunshine Station! The ladies created a bright and welcoming space where students and staff could stop by and write positive notes to others as a way to spread kindness throughout the building.
The kind words shared made everyone’s day a little brighter — proving that even small gestures can have a big impact. 💛

NSHS Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month 🇪🇸❤️
¡Hola, Vikings! The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (NSHS) celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 – Oct. 15) with vibrant cultural contributions across our campus. They enjoyed authentic food, admired traditional clothing, and watched lively cultural dances—all while connecting with the community and honoring Hispanic heritage.

Lunch and Learn
FUEL Lunch & Learn: Exploring Careers in Water Management 💧
During our recent FUEL Lunch & Learn, students had the opportunity to explore exciting career pathways in the water industry. Jill Martinez (former SV parent) from Columbia Water and Devin Orr from the South Carolina Rural Water Association shared valuable insights about the many careers involved in operating a water plant — from engineering and maintenance to environmental science and beyond.
They also provided students with information on how to take advantage of a paid pre-apprenticeship program designed specifically for high school students, offering a great way to gain real-world experience before graduation.
Additionally, we were joined by representatives from the Department of Employment and Workforce, who shared resources and guidance on preparing for future career opportunities.
Thank you to all of our guests for investing in our Vikings’ futures and inspiring the next generation of professionals in the water industry!
