2023 SCMEA All-State Orchestra
Congratulations to the following Orchestra Students! They were selected, by audition, for the 2023 SCMEA All-State Orchestras! The event takes place on February 24-26, 2023, at Cane Bay High School in Summerville.

Signing Day
Congratulations to the following student-athletes and their families who are seeing a dream become reality. Six athletes seized the opportunity to continue their academic and athletic careers on the collegiate level. Fellow classmates, teachers, coaches, staff and family members filled the auditorium Wednesday, January 31st at Spring Valley for their signing ceremony. We wish you continued success during your collegiate careers.

Spring Valley JROTC Wins Again
Spring Valley JROTC Teams began their 2023 season last Saturday with another victory at the Ashley Ridge Combined Meet. The Viking Drill, Raider, and Academic teams competed against 16 other schools winning overall championship in Drill and Raider competitions. Special mention should be made to the team leaders, Cadet Lt Col Ariel Lugo and Cadet Major Leila
Sherman of the Drill Team for leading the team to overall victory in 4 of the 5 competitions entered this season. Additionally, the Viking Raider Team led by Cadet Chief Jordan Lewis and Cadet MSgt Hayden Harki continued their string of dominant overall victories.
Next stop: the Viking Drill Team competes at Charleston Southern University on 18th Feb, and the Viking Raider Team concludes their season at Furman University on 25th Feb.

The annual Richland 2 Hackathon is scheduled to be March 3rd at R2i1. Nate O’Neill has sent out this script to announce it to students:
Students! Friday, March 3, you can participate in an all-day event at R2i2!
You will work through the design thinking process to hack a problem in your school or community! You are in charge of making a real CHANGE!
This is open to all high school students, and we’d love to see you there.
Transportation, Lunch, and Dinner are provided! For more information, check out a flyer around campus! Come see Mrs. Zweimiller in D204 for permission forms. These are due back no later than February 24th!
